Course Description
The student will demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the architectures, protocols and frame transport mechanisms of ADSL, Broadband ISDN, SONET, FRAME RELAY, and ATM technologies employed in LAN, WAN, and wireless internetworking system. VOIP technology will be studied in detail and the H.323 multimedia standards will be examined and compared with SIP protocols. Deployment issues will be analyzed in terms of speed, complexity, latency, packet loss, jitter and cost. The course concludes with an introduction to next generation technologies such as MPLS, VPLS, Metro Ethernet, Fiber Channel, FCON and GPON.
