The Health Centre provides professional health care to the students of Humber Institute of Advanced learning and Technology and University of Guelph-Humber. Services are provided by highly skilled nurses and doctors. You can walk-in to see the nurse or book an appointment to see the doctor.
On each visit to the Health Centre, you will be asked to show your Student Card and your valid Ontario or provincial Health Card, or International Student Health Insurance Card.
You are able to see the nurse without a Health Card although it is recommended you always carry your Health Card with you.
All students whose permanent residence is Ontario require their own Ontario Health Insurance Card.
Application forms are available in the Health Centre or on-line at
www.gov.on.ca
www.ontario.ca
International Students can learn about their health insurance plan at the International Student Centre or on-line at
www.international.humber.ca
Students from other provinces are covered by the Health Insurance of their home province, providing it is up-to-date. All provincial health cards except for Quebec are accepted.
If you are a student from Quebec you will be asked to pay for your medical services up front. You will need to submit your receipt of payment to the Quebec government to get reimbursed.
Please consult with the Medical Secretary as to service fees. (Amounts are subject to change based on OHIP fee schedule.) To find out more, come to the health centre and speak to the nurse or medical secretary.
International students will need their student card and valid International Student Health Insurance Card. To find out where to pick up your insurance card visit the International Student Services website.
To see the doctor, there is no direct cost to you if you have a provincial Health Insurance Card or your International Student Health Insurance Card. However, be advised that some services are NOT covered by health insurance, such as immunization records, work placement forms, volunteer forms etc.
If you are a part-time Humber College Student or you are looking for a family doctor in your area, you can find an Ontario doctor through the CPSO website.
If you are a Humber full-time student, you are automatically part of the Student Insurance Plan including Dental Benefits.
The Health Centre DOES NOT process any insurance claims.
