Entrance/Placement Testing
Once admitted to a full-time program,* students are
required to complete the English communications placement test -a one-hour writing sample- for placement in their appropriate level English communications course.
On the basis of the results of this test, some students may be exempted from taking their required first-semester English course. On the other hand, some students may be required to take a remedial (COMM 100) or developmental (ESL. 150) writing course first.
If the writing sample displays ESL characteristics, the student will be placed in an appropriate level ESL course.
