On the first day of the program, students complete a placement test which will determine their reading, writing and oral communication skills. Based on their assessment, students are placed in the appropriate level class (from high beginner to advanced).

The five-week program consists of a total of 120 hours of language experience (75 hours of language classes, 30 hours of electives and workshops, and up to 20 hours of educational excursions).

While in the language classroom, students are involved in speaking, listening, writing, reading and communicative grammar activities. In addition each class uses the computerized language lab on a weekly basis to further develop language skills.

At the end of the five-week program, students are given oral and written tests related to their linguistic level. The final grade is determined by the students' achievement in their language classes  and electives/workshops. They receive a Certificate of Participation from Humber College.
