Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL/TEFL )

TESL / TEFL at Humber

The Humber Program is accredited by TESL Canada  (Standard II) and TESL Ontario.

TESL/TEFL at HumberOur students learn from the best in the TESL/TEFL field. Faculty are extremely experienced in English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction.  Most currently teach ESL courses and bring those experiences directly with them to the TESL/TEFL classroom.

The TESL/TEFL program focuses on six core areas:

  • The Adult ESL Learner
  • Introduction to Language
  • TESL Methodology
  • The ESL Classroom
  • Pedagogical Grammar
  • Practicum

In the Practicum, students practise their teaching skills in a variety of programs, such as community and school board ESL courses and academic and occupation-specific programs. Students may also work in our language labs and writing centre and as speaking tutors with our EAP students.
