Introduction to Motorcycling

This is a great opportunity to experience the joy of motorcycle riding in a relaxed and secure environment. You will experience the basics of the sport under the observant eye of experienced instructors. This session is ideal for those who want to get a jump start on the full basic rider course, for anyone considering riding a motorcycle who want to try before they buy, or for someone just interested in a getting a glimpse of what all the excitement is about.

This three-hour session will get you on the motorcycle, teach you how to properly balance and stop it, engage the gears and safely move it forward at a very controlled pace.
Note: this is not intended to replace the full basic rider course. It will merely pique your interest.

Humber will supply each student with their own motorcycle to ride for the training.

Is this course for me?
This "Introductory" course is suited for those who have never ridden a motorcycle before, or for those who have had very little practice. This is a great opportunity to experience the joy or motorcycling in a safe environment.

ALSO - For students registered in the basic rider course (CYCL 010, 015 or 016) wanting to take advantage of some extra-time to learn the fundamental skills needed to make the transition to the full program more seamless.

What will I learn?
We start with the very essential slow speed skills including balancing, proper braking, starting the engine, engaging the transmission and moving off.

What do I get at the end of the course?
You will be familiar with the basic operation of the motorcycle and will be prepared to move more confidently into the Gearing Up program.

How long is the course?
The training consists of a 3-hour session riding on our motorcycles with expert guidance and instruction.

What will I ride?
Our fleet of expertly maintained, 250cc 06 Yamaha Viragos have been chosen specifically for their comfort, low seat height and their ease of operation. These factors support all riders in gaining the confidence and skills required to ride a motorcycle safely and effectively.

Where and when can I take the course?
Our courses are offered Wednesday and Sunday evenings from 5 to 8pm. A complete schedule can be found in the course calendar. The course is currently run at the Humber College North Campus in Etobicoke.

How much does it cost?
The cost of the course is $71.43 plus taxes.
