Humber’s School for Writers’ faculty shortlisted for Booker Prize

Date:
July 28, 2010

After reading a total of 138 books, judges for Britain’s Man Booker Prize announced the 13 titles for the 2010 longlist – and, happily for the Humber School for Writers (HSW), the list includes titles by four former HSW faculty members.

These include:

Peter Carey for Parrot and Olivier in America
Andrea Levy for The Long Song by Andrea Levy
David Mitchell for The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet
Lisa Moore for February

The Man Booker Prize has long been the most prestigious literary award in the English-speaking world.

The longlist of 13 are now being considered for the shortlisted five. This list will be announced in September, and the winner will be announced at a gala dinner in London’s Guildhall on October 12.

The winner of the Man Booker receives a substantial cash award, worldwide recognition and increased book sales.
