Pardeep Singh Kamboj arrived in Canada from Chandigarh, India where he was a trained pharmacist and medical transcriptionist. Wanting to continue to work in healthcare, Kamboj looked online for educational options close to his new home in Brampton, Ontario.
He chose the Humber College-University of New Brunswick collaborative Bachelor of Nursing degree, a program that has produced more than 900 graduates since its inception in 2005, for its solid reputation and close proximity to home.
Prior to starting the program, he completed Humber’s General Arts and Science-Science and Technology Profile program in order to meet the Nursing degree’s entry requirements. Now in his third year, he is pleased the with program and his future career options.
With graduates working in various areas of nursing, community health, public health and hospitals, and a few completing their Masters of Nursing and their PhD, Humber has proved to be successful to Kamboj.
Kamboj credits the faculty for teaching the subject matter in comprehensive and insightful way.
“The Nursing faculty and program coordinators are exceptional people and teachers,” he says. “They each bring their own unique experience to the classroom and combine it with the necessary theory. They demonstrate their teachings through various approaches such as: lectures, presentations and guest speakers to compliment the different areas we are learning about.”
Upon graduation, Kamboj wants to work in a hospital where can increase his knowledge and assessment skills, but aims to be a public health nurse in the community in a few years.
