Humber College students and staff were issued a library card, checked out their human books and then settled in for a half hour chat.
The Human Library, an interactive event between the human book and its reader was a two-day event at both campuses.
The human books were based on topics that have been stereotyped or commonly misunderstood, such as living with HIV and being pro-choice. Each human book had a story to tell and engaged in a 30-minute conversation with its reader.
“It’s nice that at a time where print has been overtaken by social media as the normal mode of communication there is still room for spoken words, storytelling and the oral tradition,” said Aliya Dalfen, co-op Librarian.
