Humber Hawk named Female Badminton Player of the Year

Date:
February 17, 2012

The Humber Hawks continue to soar this week with the news that Tracy Wong has been named the OCAA women’s badminton player of year. This is the second straight year that Wong, a Fitness and Health Promotion student, has won the award.

Wong is also a nominee for the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association women’s player of the year. Her undefeated season in singles and doubles events makes the recognition well deserved.

“It feels great,” said Wong about receiving the award. “I’m proud because I’ve put in a lot of work but I couldn’t have done it without support from Humber, my family and friends.”

While her busy schedule forces her to juggle time in class and on the court, Wong acknowledges Humber’s ongoing support as a key part of her success.

“Humber helps me balance everything,” said Wong. “Athletics gives us the resources we need to excel in class and stay on top of our game.”
