Humber promotes healthy living

Students and staff looking to stay fit brought all their energy to Humber’s Health and Wellness Fair this year. The annual event promotes various aspects of healthy living, including proper eating and regular exercise, through a range of information booths run by students and industry partners.

The athletic wing at Humber’s North Campus was bustling throughout the fair, which also featured a variety of health-related stations.

“We have everything from Thai Yoga Massage to a student-run fruit smoothie stand,” explained event organizer Debra Basch. “Everything happening ties into our new theme: energy.”

Sponsors, including Extreme Fitness, PowerBar and Z103, were on-hand with healthy lifestyle tips and promotional giveaways.

The Health and Wellness Fair also provides students in Humber’s Fitness and Health Promotion program with an opportunity to put their skills to work. By third-semester, they are organizing the fair as part of an in-class assignment.

“I would recommend the program because it fits so much into two-years,” explains Sadie Holmes, a second-year student. “We also get an internship which helps us gain experience in the industry before we graduate.”
