Love for Lakeshore

September 14, 2012

Humber students won’t hesitate to tell you exactly what they love about Lakeshore Campus. Between the picturesque views and innovative new facilities, it’s easy to understand why many are attracted to Humber’s growing presence on Lake Shore Blvd.

Deon Naraine, a first-year student in the International Business degree program, is quick to name Lakeshore Commons, the focal point of the campus, as his favourite spot to get things done.

“Lakeshore Commons has all the things you need to be successful,” says Deon, referring to the resources the new building provides. “It’s a nice place to learn and it makes you feel comfortable.”

Lakeshore Commons, the four-storey hub to the east side of the campus, has room for 2,000 students, new lab spaces and various food options. It officially opened in November 2011.

Beth McClelland, a second-year student in the Public Relations Advanced Diploma program, says there’s something for everyone at Lakeshore.

“I like that it’s such a tight-knit community and people are always trying to get you involved,” says Beth. “For such a small campus, there are so many different niche clubs you can get involved with.”

Humber’s Lakeshore Campus has expanded significantly in recent years with the introduction of new facilities, including The Fashion Institute, the Centre for Justice Leadership and the Humber Arts & Media Studio.
