Students build flu mascots

Date:
November 16, 2009

With Humber’s flu prevention campaigns underway students and staff have two new visitors to welcome on campus – Humber’s friendly flu mascots.

The mascots were built by Kathleen Ballos, Eric Morton, Allie Arce, Allie Marshall and Sam Aylsworth, second-year students in Humber’s Theatre Production program and were assisted by instructor Heather Kent.

“This was a great project for the students, as it was straight forward and it taught them a great deal about trouble shooting, planning and testing ideas at the conception and building stage,” says Heather Kent, instructor, Theatre Production Program. “The students were pleased to be working on something that was for Humber. They took a lot of ownership and pride in this project.”

The project took a month to complete, from research to concept to creation. The mascots can be seen walking around the North campus and will arrive at Lakeshore shortly.
