Date:
November 17, 2009

Humber College and Crimestoppers will launch the R.I.D.E. Checks program (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere – a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of not driving impaired) on Thursday, November 26, 2009.

Scott Fox from the Z103.5 Morning Show will host the event beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the Student Centre, North Campus.

“It’s important to get the message out to youth and members of our community that drinking and driving is not acceptable,” says John Davies, Humber president. “We’re delighted to put our efforts towards public safety in our community.”

Officers from York, Halton, Toronto, Durham, Peel and Niagara Police Services will be in attendance providing students with information on the program.

Lorne Simon, marketing and communications director for R.I.D.E. Checks says “we appreciate the support of Humber in launching our R.I.D.E. program. It’s critical that we inform the public of our campaign and Humber has been a strong partner in helping us to do this.”
