PR students help fill holiday hampers

Date:
November 20, 2009

‘Tis the season for giving and Humber PR students are doing just that.

Decked out in holiday attire, Humber students and M.P.P. Michael Colle donated their time to the North York Harvest Food Bank to raise awareness and give back to their community.

“We raised 65 lbs of food during a time when the need for donations is at an all time high,” says Carly Ostroff, Public Relations student.

The PR students are also promoting Humber’s annual faculty children’s Christmas party, taking place on Saturday, December 5.

This year’s theme, ‘Catch the Olympic Spirit’ is a fun twist for the annual party. All guests are encouraged to bring a food item in exchange for a raffle ticket.

“We have been strongly supported by our instructors and have exceeded all expectations with the holiday party. We hope it’s the most successful party ever and that we have a large donation for the food bank after,” says Ostroff.

Food items in high demand include: formula, baby food, rice, beans and lentils, canned fruits and vegetables, canned fish and meat, cans of soup or hearty stew, dried pasta and tomato sauce, macaroni and cheese, cheese spread, peanut butter along with Tetra Pak, canned or powdered milk.
