This course will explore aspects of managing projects and navigating the challenges of project management and delivery within the public sector. It will provide the project manager with an understanding of the public sector overall, as well as the processes, challenges and constraints which influence project management and delivery models within the public sector. The student will explore key topics such as; government structures and elections; project management frameworks and regulations (e.g. access to information, broader public sector procurement directive); drivers of public sector projects and the not-for-profit sector; project governance, stakeholder management, communications and project funding models (public-private-partnerships, alternative financing and procurement, etc.). The course is intended for project managers within private sector entities doing business with public sector organizations and for project managers currently employed or intending to seek employment within the public sector.
