Academic Year

2016-2017

In this theory and simulated practice environment, students engage in learning opportunities to build professional identify and behaviour as a member of a regulated health profession. Learning opportunities support students to use problem-solving and decision-making skills, work as an effective team member, build caring environments, develop therapeutic relationships, and use communication skills. With guidance, students move toward self-directed proficiency in foundational nursing interventions. Students perform holistic initial health assessments of the neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal and elimination systems. Working collaboratively, students use the nursing process in a simulated practice environment to assess, plan, meet, evaluate, and document clients health-care needs and health outcomes related to client safety, oxygenation, nutrition, hydration, elimination, hygiene and mobility. Students must successfully demonstrate knowledge and skills development.
