Introduction to College Writing Skills

The aim of this course is to improve students' reading and writing skills. The course emphasizes reading, paragraph structure and the writing process. With each assignment, students are taught to choose and limit their topic according to the purpose and the audience, to engage in pre-writing activities such as brainstorming and outlining, and to compose and revise their work. To support their writing, students learn and practise correct grammar and learn to proofread with care. To complete WRIT 050 successfully, students must produce writing that meets the minimum departmental standards.
