Humber
Students Place Third in World Automotive Design Competition
An entry from three Humber Industrial
Design students received third place in the first annual World
Automotive Design Competition on February 14, 2002. The challenge was
to design a shared mobility vehicle that reflects the unique character
of the city and country where the designers live and study. The judges
enjoyed the entry's comprehensive treatment of the sharing solution
and felt that the entry demonstrated good research and stayed close
to the design brief. Andy Anissimoff, Bruno Mediati and Jeff Young
of the Industrial Design program were the recipients of $2,500 US.
"As a faculty, we're very proud of our students,
especially bearing in mind that they were competing with four and five-year
university students from around the world. This award is a reflection
of the quality of education here at Humber College," said Ken Cummings,
Industrial Design Program Coordinator, Humber School of Applied Technology.
The competition was held in conjunction with
the Canadian International AutoShow. First place went to Art Center
College of Design, Pasadena, USA, and second went to Coventry School
of Art & Design, Coventry, England.
