Humber PeopleJeffrey Brothers: Humber Alumni Wins National Culinary Competition
The culinary award is given to the winner of a black box competition. "In this competition, each chef is given a tray of ingredients to be used in the preparation of a three-course meal for four and the young chefs have only one half hour to create a menu," says Michael McFadden, Culinary Program Coordinator, School of Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism at Humber. "Each of these chefs had been chosen out of a group of regional competitors to compete at the national level." "My long-term goal is to have my own restaurant or be an executive chef", says Jeffrey Brothers. "I've always done fine dining so it would be a fine dining restaurant." Jeffrey graduated from Humber in 1998. Humber is one of Canada's pre-eminent colleges, delivering a comprehensive range of applied arts and technology programs and providing unique learning solutions for strategic industry sectors. The Confrérie De La Chaîne Des Rôtisseurs is an international gastronomic society that provides scholarships and competition for young chefs.
