Your Career

More than half of Ontario's law clerks are employed in the GTA, thanks to Toronto's concentration of law firms, governments, courts, finance, insurance and real estate companies and corporate head offices.

Work as a law clerk or legal assistant in both public and private law firms. Recent employers of graduates of this program are: Goodman & Griffin, Morguard Trust, Legal Aid, City of Brampton, McMillan Binch, First Canadian Title Insurance Company.

Our Program

Our program is taught by practising lawyers and provides you with the practical legal knowledge in research, drafting, analysis and theory you need to succeed as a law clerk or legal assistant. Under a lawyer's direction, corporate law clerks maintain corporate documents, file documents, complete real estate transactions, draft contracts, conduct title searches, and complete research. In a litigation office, duties involve filing documents with the courts, interviewing clients and witnesses, drafting, researching and accompanying a lawyer to meetings, as well as court appearances. Students engage in real-life work experiences through our co-op program in both small and large private firms, and in the public sector.
