Your Career

Virtual advertising, alone, has turned into a real-world business worth nearly half a billion dollars a year. Be in high demand as an interactive design and production specialist who can create rich media content for distribution over broadband Internet connections and third generation wireless networks. Work in large or small organizations with media production and presentation facilities. Recent graduates of this program have found employment at a variety of organizations including: Design Axiom, Engage Learning Solutions, Adlure Media, Robinhood Technologies, CHUM Interactive, Genesis Designs, the CTV Broadband Network, Piper Studios, NetFirms, EarthDay Canada, Universal Music Group, TechData, Marble Media, EMI Music, TPM Communications, Lincoln Electric, MTV Canada, Bishop Information Group, Rogers Consumer Publishing, Official Community, and TakingITGlobal.

Our Program

This intensive program provides students with the technical and creative skills needed for entry-level employment in the fields of web design and interactive content development. Students learn a range of interactive media production skills including interface design, motion graphics, web coding, streaming, video and sound editing, graphics production and interactive design. Students learn industry-standard software such as Flash, DreamWeaver, Flex Builder, Photoshop, Illustrator, AfterEffects, Audition, Sound Track Pro and FinalCut Pro. Web technologies such as ActionScript, XML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX and PHP are also in the curriculum.

Students often work in a team-based environment to create content collaboratively. This helps participants develop project management skills and creates a comprehensive portfolio. The interactive experiences designed and developed are then presented to a variety of audiences using broadband Internet connections and high-speed wireless networks.

Work Placement

In the last semester, students will complete practical fieldwork placements two days a week while completing classroom work and the development of an employment portfolio.
