The 2016/2017 fee for two semesters is

– international $14,800.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:
– Grade 12 English (ENG4U or equivalent) minimum 65 per cent
– Grade 12 Mathematics (MDM4U, MCB4U, MGA4U, MCV4U or MHF4U or equivalent) minimum 60 per cent (Students who do not possess Grade 12U Mathematics or who have achieved a grade below 60 per cent may be considered for admission.  Students will be required to complete a math equivalency course during their first semester at Humber. Additional course fees will apply.)
– Four Grade 12 U or M courses in addition to those listed above
– Overall minimum grade point average (GPA) 65 per cent
or
• Mature student status
or
• College or university transfer status

All applicants whose first language is not English must meet Humber’s English Language Proficiency Policy.

Selection: Admission selection is based on the academic criteria indicated. Meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission.

Our Program

Humber’s Bachelor of Commerce – Finance program is a four-year business degree that offers comprehensive knowledge of both business and finance. In your first two years, you’ll be exposed to a variety of business fundamentals such as marketing, accounting, economics and law. In the last two years of the program, you’ll focus on theories, methods and techniques in various aspects of finance, including analysis, planning and risk management.

Our project-based curriculum, designed by industry experts, helps you develop the skills to move from idea to execution, all while learning core business concepts and financial strategies. A senior-level project in your final year will give you experience in problem solving, evaluating strengths and limitations, and making appropriate decisions in a real-world, team-based environment.

Your Career

Both the private and public sectors are looking for finance analysts, managers and accountants and the demand will only grow in the future. A Finance degree from Humber will help you work towards a career that will see you build, shape and support financial organizations.
Our program provides the knowledge, hands-on experience and skills necessary for you to become an analyst or consultant in:
– finance
– financial services
– planning
– investment
– risk management
– insurance.
You’ll also be positioned to pursue graduate studies or take on a more specialized role as a claims adjuster, mutual fund analyst, real estate appraiser, commercial banker or money manager. Your degree will provide credits towards industry designations, such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Fellow, Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP). As a highly qualified financial expert, you’ll have the potential to be promoted to mid- or senior-management positions within five to 10 years. And if working for yourself appeals to you, you’ll have the know-how and experience to channel that entrepreneurial spirit and start your own business.

Professional Accreditation, Endorsement and Recognition

Successful completion of the Bachelor of Commerce – Finance degree program provides credit towards the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Fellow, Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) designations. Students are encouraged to complete the designation(s) of their choosing upon graduation.

Work Placement

The Humber Bachelor of Commerce – Finance program includes 14 weeks/490 hours of paid work in the summer between your sixth and seventh semesters. This gives you the practical experience employers value. Your placement will give you the opportunity to work in the field you’d like to pursue once you graduate, and may include organizations such as:
– financial institutions
– small businesses
– not-for-profit organizations
– government offices
– major corporations.
Humber works with employers and industry partners to identify opportunities that will best fit your ambitions.

Alternative Course of Study

Because our Bachelor of Commerce degrees follow a common curriculum for the first two years, you may be eligible to transfer programs if you find your passion lies somewhere other than Finance. Other areas include Accounting, Digital Business ManagementFashion ManagementHospitality and Tourism ManagementHuman Resources ManagementInternational BusinessManagement StudiesMarketing or Supply Chain Management.

Applicants who do not meet the admission requirements for the Bachelor of Commerce – Finance degree program should consider applying for Humber’s Business Administration advanced diploma program 02511, Business Management diploma program 02251 or Business – Marketing diploma program 02411.

Graduates of the Business Administration advanced diploma program with an overall grade point average (GPA) of 70 per cent or more will be considered for admission to Humber’s Bachelor of Commerce – Finance degree program. Graduates may then complete the degree program with the equivalent of four semesters of full-time study plus a paid work term. Graduates must also possess ENG4U, Humber’s COMM 200/WRIT 100 or COMM 300/WRIT 200 with a grade of 70 per cent or more, plus any Grade 12 U-level Mathematics or Humber’s BMAT 220/BMAT 120 and BSTA 300/BSTA 200 with an average grade of 70 per cent or more.

Graduates of the Business Management diploma program and Business – Marketing diploma program with an overall GPA of 75 per cent or more will be considered for admission to Humber’s Bachelor of Commerce – Finance degree program. Graduates may then complete the degree program with the equivalent of six semesters of full-time study plus a paid work term. Graduates must also possess ENG4U, Humber’s COMM 200/WRIT 100 or COMM 300/WRIT 200 with a grade of 70 per cent or more, plus any Grade 12 U-level Mathematics or Humber’s BMAT 220/BMAT 120 and BSTA 300/BSTA 200 with an average grade of 70 per cent or more.

Mature students (applicants 21 years of age or over) and/or transfer students (applicants with postsecondary education) should refer to the Mature Student Status and the College or University Transfer for admission criteria.

End Notes

Humber has been granted consent by the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities to offer this degree for a seven-year term starting April 27, 2012. In conformity with the Minister’s criteria and requirements, Humber will submit an application for the renewal of the consent for this program 12 months prior to the expiration of the consent. Humber shall ensure that all students admitted to this above-named program during the period of consent will have the opportunity to complete the program within a reasonable time frame.
