The 2016/2017 fee for two semesters is
– domestic $4,325.90
– international $14,200.
Amounts listed are the total of tuition, lab and material fees, student service and auxiliary fees for the first two semesters of the 2016/2017 academic year. Fees are subject to change.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:
– Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent)
– Grade 12 Mathematics (MAP4C, MCT4C, MDM4U, MCB4U, MGA4U, MCV4U or MHF4U or equivalent)
– Grade 11 or Grade 12 Biology (SBI3C, SBI3U or SBI4U or equivalent)
– Grade 11 or Grade 12 Chemistry (SCH3C, SCH4C or SCH4U or equivalent)
or
• Mature student status
or
• College or university transfer status

All applicants whose first language is not English must meet Humber’s English Language Proficiency Policy.

Selection: Admission selection is based on the academic criteria indicated. Meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission.

Our Program

Humber’s two-year Biotechnology diploma program provides you with the transferrable skills needed to build successful careers in a variety of biotechnology sectors. The program balances theoretical understanding with hands-on practice in specific laboratory skills needed by employers. These practical components are the focus of the program and are developed through an integration of hands-on laboratory experiences and virtual laboratory exercises. The diploma provides a valuable specialization to students interested in life sciences programs without having to go elsewhere for practical laboratory skills training.

Biotechnology is positioned to have a significant effect on Canada over the next 15 years, and biotechnology jobs are on the rise. While Canada has the opportunity to capitalize on biotechnology, it has a critical shortage of highly skilled talent.

Our program prepares you to move into entry-level laboratory science positions in diverse bio-based sectors such as agriculture, health, bioinformatics, food and beverage bioprocesses, environmental assessment, protection and remediation, pharmaceutical preparation and testing, industrial product analysis, development and manufacturing, medical diagnostic testing, or related research and development.

Our Facilities

Students entering into the Biotechnology program will benefit from a new, state-of-the-art, biotechnology laboratory. This laboratory is equipped with the latest technologies and equipment and is designed to maximize the teaching and learning experience.
