  • Our Program
Humber has been offering English for Academic Purposes (EAP) for more than 20 years, and understands what applicants need. This intensive, full-time program includes academic language and study skills, tutoring, and advisement. The curriculum is geared toward non-native speakers of English who want to improve their communication skills for entry into college diploma, degree, and postgraduate programs, or for further professional development.
    It consists of:
    – 18 hours per week of in-class instruction
    – four hours per week of computer-assisted language lab under the guidance of a TESL-certified lab co-ordinator.

Humber faculty are highly-respected, dedicated professionals who have been teaching, publishing and working in the ESL/EAP field for many years. They all hold postgraduate credentials, including solid training in ESL/ EAP teaching.

Our Advisory Committee provides regular review and input of our curriculum ensuring our program is always on the cutting edge of industry developments.
  • Your Career
By 2030, half the world’s population is expected to speak English. Prepare now for your future by developing the skills and knowledge you need to be successful in postsecondary and postgraduate studies, and in your professional field.

  • Admission Requirement
    • As a program geared towards providing students with the necessary academic English skills to succeed in furthering their studies at Humber and abroad, all students who apply to the EAP program undergo placement testing in reading, grammar, writing and speaking, prior to the program start, to determine the level of study
    • It is recommended that students have a minimum high-beginner level of English knowledge
    • Domestic applicants who are under the age of 19 must possess an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, at or above the general level
Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.
  • Additional Information
Applicants requiring student visas should plan for a minimum of six months lead time before classes begin.

  • Study Options
