Our Program

Humber’s Esthetician/Spa Management diploma program gives you the business management and vocational skills you need for a career in the $94 billion industry (“Global Spa Industry”, 2015). On the business side, learn the fundamentals of business writing, marketing, retail operation and day-to-day spa management. Hands-on courses focus on traditional services such as nail care technologies, advanced facial techniques, waxing, microdermabrasion, body treatments and make-up applications. As well, you will learn advanced medical esthetic services such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, laser and Intense Pulse Light (IPL).

At Humber, you will practise what you are learning and improve your skills at The Humber Spa, a full-service classroom and retail boutique open to the public. Working under the guidance of qualified lab technicians you will manage the administrative functions of the spa, including front line responsibilities, retail operations, and providing spa services. You will provide facials, hand and foot care, and body treatments to clientele.

As a graduate, you will be qualified to begin your own spa business, apply for positions that require practical experience and have a range of knowledge in traditional and medical spa treatments.

In the first semester, students will be introduced to spa management and client services, physiology of the skin, professional skin care, and begin to train in traditional esthetic services. In second semester, students study advanced facial techniques, waxing services, nail care and computer applications. In the third semester,
students study marketing, cosmetic applications, finance, medical spa services and handson experience in the practical lab classes. In the final semester, students learn about retail operations, human resource management, small business management and gain hands-on experience at the Humber Spa.
