  • Our Program
Do you need to refine your health science knowledge before continuing your college or university education?

The General Arts and Science – Health, Science and Technology Profile is a preparatory program designed for students who want a career in the health sciences field, but who lack the required background knowledge in the sciences, mathematics, and/or English. This program helps you to develop the skills and knowledge you will need with courses in chemistry, biology, anatomy and physiology, technical mathematics, critical thinking, computer applications, and academic and scientific writing. In a special integrated skills course, students improve academic skills, explore learning styles, and decide which career path best suits their abilities and maturing interests.
  • Admission Requirement
    • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status
    • Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U). If English is not your first language visit the English Language Proficiency Policy
    • Admission testing in writing and basic mathematics
Note: Applicants may be counselled into an alternative choice based on admission test results. While the General Arts and Science profiles have been designed to prepare students to enter a major course of study in their chosen area, a General Arts and Science certificate or diploma is neither a guarantee, nor a requirement for entry into subsequent programs at Humber or elsewhere.

For more information visit Selection Procedures.

Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.
  • Additional Information

If you are interested in a career in the health sciences, but you need background knowledge  in science and mathematics, the Science and Technology Program is a great choice.  Students in the Science and Technology program improve their reading, writing, critical thinking, and math skills as well as taking foundational courses in biology, chemistry and anatomy and physiology.

    Critical Thinking

    Course Code: GASA Y10
    Credits: 3
We live in a world awash in data and facts from the Internet, television, newspapers and podcasts, to name only a few. It is often said that facts speak for themselves. But any casual analysis will reveal that they rarely speak for themselves and facts and data are usually presented within the context of an argument. It is fair to say that good facts and data will only be as good as the argument that is used to frame them. It is critical therefore to be able to assess not only the raw data and facts but the logic of the arguments that frame the facts.
