  • Our Program

Humber's Law Clerk diploma program provides intensive training delivered by experienced professionals. Learn from practising lawyers and law clerks who'll give you the inside scoop on the highlights of the field and on current trends and opportunities.

Your law clerk education includes courses on business, criminal, real estate, corporate, and family law, as well as  litigation, legal research, transcribing legal dictation, title searches and more. Your solid knowledge on diverse areas of law, competence in a range of legal and court procedures and strong written and oral communication skills will make you a valued member of a legal team.

Gain first-hand work experience, integrate your academic knowledge and skills, and potentially make the transition to employment through a final-semester field placement at a small or large private or public sector law firm.

    About the Curriculum

    Practicing Lawyers Teach Classes

Students gain practical legal knowledge in research, drafting, analysis and theory.

Corporate law clerks maintain corporate documents, file documents, complete real estate transactions, draft contracts, conduct title searches and complete research under a lawyer’s direction. And in a litigation office, duties involve filing documents with the courts, interviewing clients and witnesses, drafting, and researching and court appearances.

    How it Works

In first year, students are introduced to procedures and professional conduct, legal document applications, business, real estate and criminal law, litigation and transcribing.

In second year, students continue to study litigation procedures and are introduced to corporate and family law, title searching, legal documents and records and estates. A field practicum rounds out the fourth and final semester.
