College Diploma to Degree

Graduates of a Related Diploma | Graduates of an Unrelated Diploma | Partially Completed Diploma

Students who have completed a college diploma can use their college courses to gain admission and apply for advanced standing in a Humber degree program. Students who have completed at least a year of college-level study may also be considered for admission. For details see the information below.

Graduates of a Related Diploma

College graduates who have completed a diploma in the same field of study as the degree will be considered for admission and advanced standing.

Admission

  • 2-Year Diploma: College-level English course with a minimum grade of 70% and a program GPA of 75%*
  • 3-Year Diploma: College-level English course with a minimum grade of 70% and a program GPA of 70%*

*Degree programs with limited enrolments in the advanced years may require a higher GPA. Admission is a competitive process and based on available space in the program.

Advanced Standing

Humber recognizes the academic work you have already completed. The chart below indicates the semester, or advanced standing, college graduates from related diploma programs will receive.

University and Other Institution

Canadian University | International College or University | Private Career Colleges

Students who have completed or attended a Canadian university, international post-secondary institution or private career college

Canadian University

University graduates or students who have completed at least one year of successful degree level study will be considered for admission and individual transfer credits

Admission

Students who have successfully completed at least one year of degree level study will be considered for admission to a Humber degree program. Students will require specific subject requirements and an appropriate university GPA. Admission cut-offs vary by program and degree programs with limited enrolment may require a higher GPA. Admission is a competitive process and based on available space in the program.

Students who have not completed their degree must be eligible to return to their recent institution in good standing. Students who are ineligible to continue their studies based on poor academic or behavioural activity will not be considered for admission until the period of rustication has expired.

Advanced Standing

Private Career Colleges

Admissions

Graduates of private career colleges may apply for admission to Humber’s degree programs. Applicants must possess the published subject requirements. Course from private career colleges will only be considered for admission if they have similar hours of instruction and course content to those offered in the Ontario college system. Full course outlines which indicate course hours, learning outcomes and evaluation methods are required to determine possible equivalencies.
