Toronto, ON – June 27, 2011 – As the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Princess Catherine, visit Canada, their first banquet meal will come from a kitchen where Humber College students will be cooking.
Humber was invited to have students participate for the June 30 meal. The five students, who all just graduated, will be part of the culinary crew for the banquet welcoming the newly-married royal couple to Canada at Rideau Hall, under the direction of Chef Louis Charest, executive chef of the Governor-General’s residence.
The Humber graduates were selected by Humber Culinary Management program coordinator Rudi Fischbacher.
“This will be the biggest and most exciting event that I have ever cooked for,” said Brooke De Angelis, one of the graduates participating. “I am proud and thankful that I have the opportunity to represent Humber and to help make this event a success. I am nervous and excited; I cannot wait to start cooking.”
Interviews and photographs can be obtained after the students return from Ottawa. Should you wish to arrange an interview with a student or the program coordinator, please contact us.
