Humber College Welcomes the Rick Hansen Relay

Disability services officer to carry the Rick Hansen medal

Toronto, Ontario – November 3, 2011 – Humber president John Davies, Humber Students’ Federation president Bryan Tran and Disability Services officer Alessia Di Virgilio will welcome the Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay to the North Campus on Tuesday, November 8, 2011.

The Relay celebrates the Canadian hero’s 1986 Man In Motion Tour and retraces the Canadian segment of the original route. More than 7,000 participants from across Canada who have made a difference in the lives of others will pass along the singular Rick Hansen Medal as the Relay makes its way across the country.

Di Virgilio will participate in the Relay as the college’s medal bearer. She will begin her segment at 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Humber College Blvd and entranceway B into the college. She will proceed along entranceway B and enter the college at the Registration entrance.

The 273 day Relay, which began on August 24, 2011 in Cape Spear, Newfoundland and Labrador, focuses on engaging Canadians to take up the challenge and become catalysts for positive change. The Relay is scheduled to end in Vancouver on May 22, 2012.
