College receives recognition for the second consecutive year
Toronto, Ontario – September 25, 2012 – For the second consecutive year, Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning has been named one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People for 2012 by Mediacorp Canada Inc., as part of its annual competition. Recognized employers are considered Canada’s leaders in attracting and retaining younger employees to their organizations.
Humber is one of Canada’s largest and most dynamic postsecondary institutions. The college attracts and retains employees through a strong commitment to their personal and professional development, competitive compensation and health benefits, and its commitment to building an inclusive environment and positive workplace culture.
“We are thrilled to be named as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People. Every employee shares in this recognition and we will continue to work hard to ensure they have the opportunities and resources they need for job success,” said Deb McCarthy, associate vice president, HR Services. “Humber supports all employees in pursuing their personal and professional goals. Faculty and staff work together to provide our students, and each other, with an inspiring and innovative learner-centered environment.”
Humber was selected as a Top Employer for Young People based on information provided to Mediacorp as part of the college’s submission for consideration as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers and through Mediacorp’s own research.
Each winner is evaluated by Canada’s Top 100 Employers editors on the programs they have to attract and retain younger workers. These include tuition assistance, co-op or work-study programs, mentorship and training programs, and bonuses paid for course or professional designation completion. Other criteria include the employer's career management program, the composition and profile of the workforce.
