Toronto, Ontario – April 14, 2010 – Roger Tsang, a third-year student in Humber College’s Package & Graphic Design program is also the man behind the newly redesigned logo and packaging of Red Bull beer.
The first run of Tsang’s design, a fiery charging bull clutching wheat, which includes his digital signature, is now being shipped to Beer Stores across Ontario.
Sleeman® Breweries and Humber collaborated this winter for an industry competition in which Tsang and 18 of his classmates submitted new logo concepts for the redesign of the Red Bull bottle label, can and twelve-pack carton. Students had two weeks to brainstorm, design and implement their designs.
“It was an intense competition, but Tsang’s design best demonstrated Red Bull’s core brand elements of masculinity, intensity and energy in an interesting and compelling way. His choice of colours will provide on-shelf impact,” said Keith Gillespie, national marketing director, Sleeman® Breweries.
According to Tsang, “this industry contest helped enhance my portfolio and my credentials. I’m hopeful it will help open doors wherever I go.” Tsang is now working for Rayment & Collins, a supplier to Sleeman® Breweries Limited.
"Package & Graphic Design program graduates are in high demand in the industry. We actually have more employers seeking Humber graduates than we have students graduating," says Vass Klymenko, program co-ordinator. “We attract teachers from the industry who are the best in the business and they assist our graduates to get great jobs."
