Dr. Robert A. Gordon, President Humber and Mr. Jack C. MacDonald, CEO, Compass Group Canada Ltd. join Humber Culinary students and faculty to prepare shrimpcakes for guests at the launch of the Compass Group Canada Culinary Arts Demonstration Theatre and Kitchen Lab.

TORONTO, January 18, 2005 – An indoor winter fantasy party was held at Humber Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning to launch the state-of-the-art Compass Group Canada Culinary Arts Demonstration Theatre and Kitchen Lab. Guests, including politicians and partners and donors in the food and hospitality industry, were treated to live jazz and delicacies such as Ontario lamb carpcaccio and galantine of chicken on potato cakes. The event was planned entirely by students in the School of Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism and, in addition, students and faculty of the culinary and hospitality programs at Humber prepared and served the appetizers and refreshments.

The innovative lab includes state-of-the-art technology, including a Vent Master ceiling, the first of its kind to be installed in North America. The lab will be used in the education of over 250 students each year in the Culinary Management and Chef Training programs from the School of Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism at Humber.

“Humber is a leader in culinary education and Compass Group Canada is pleased to assist Humber to develop the next generation of culinary leaders with this exciting new lab,” said Jack C. MacDonald, Chief Executive Officer, Compass Group Canada Ltd.
