Research For Academic Credit
Participating in research through your academic program is the main vehicle for student research at Humber. As every program has its own requirements and regulations, Humber Research will work with your program to verify if a project can be completed for academic credit. If you are interested in participating in a research project for academic credit, please discuss your ideas with your faculty professor.
Research opportunities for academic credit include:
- Projects (e.g., final-year projects, capstones, thesis, studio)
- Practicums, internships, and placements
- Co-op placements
Research Assistant
As a student, you can be hired as a part-time research assistant to work on a research project. RA positions may be funded through the work-study program or other funding. These paid positions are usually posted through the Career Centre.
Volunteering on a Project
You can also volunteer to participate in a research project. Volunteering is a great way to get some experience with research and development onto your resume. You will have the opportunity to learn new skills, work one-on-one with faculty, and depending on the project, interact with other departments or external industry clients.
Both paid and unpaid research assistants will have the opportunity to participate in such activities as:
- Collecting and organizing data through sampling
- Assisting in the development of the project plan
- Logging research notes
- Conducting research activities through experimentation
- Analyzing and interpreting results and data
- Reporting research conclusions and/or findings
