Bob Rice

Bob Rice holds a Master of Arts degree in composition and is currently a PhD candidate at York University. He is currently the leader/composer/arranger of two notable Latin jazz groups, one of which is the “Bobby Rice Latin Jazz Big Band” which regularly features the Grammy nominated Hilario Duran, along with many more of Canada’s finest jazz musicians. After receiving an Ontario Arts Council recording grant, he released the acclaimed album BOBBY RICE & SANDUNGA which also features many prominent Canadian jazz musicians (e.g., David Virelles, Jake Langley, Mark Kelso). Bob won “Best Canadian Composition” from the Music Aid International Music Awards in 2006 for the track entitled “Transition”, and has further received a composition grant from the Ontario Arts Council. Bob has also performed with the following groups and artists: The Drifters, Shania Twain, Mary Wilson (Supremes), Bill Cosbie, Luise Pitre, Robert Pilon, Michael Burgess, Frankie Vali, Rich Little, Joan Rivers, Jackie Richardson, Gary Morgan & PanAmericana, Rik Emmett, NOJO, George Oliver, and many others.  He has also performed in festivals all over Canada and the United States including: The Montreal Jazz Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Toronto Jazz Festival (Du Maurier), Vancouver Jazz Festival, Victoria Jazz Festival, Vancouver Island Folk Festival and the Yukon Music Festival as well as many others.
