Test Centre Rules

  • Students must provide valid government issued photo ID 
    Acceptable forms of ID include:
    • Humber Student Card
    • Driver's Licence
    • Passport
    • Canadian Citizenship Card
    • Canadian Armed Forces Identification Card
    • Certificate of Indian Status Card
    • Permanent Resident Card
    • Ontario Photo Card.
      *Please note that we are unable to test any student who does not present photo ID.
  • The student must know the instructor's surname - this is how we file our tests, we cannot find your test without it!
    Note: This does not apply to admissions, placement, and external testing. 
  • Students who arrive late to their test may not be compensated for missed time.  
    Please note our closing times. You can find them at the bottom of this page. If you arrive too close to our closing time you may not receive the full allotted time for your test. 
  • Students will follow all instructions given to them by Testing Services staff prior, during and after testing while in the Centre. 
    This includes but is not limited to student seating assignment, emergency evacuation instructions, etc.
  • Only authorized materials should be on your desk.
    Prior to starting your test or exam, you will be asked to store your belongings in a designated area by a Testing Services staff member.  Only items approved on the referral form will be permitted in the Testing Room.  If you are found in possession of unauthorized materials, your instructor will be notified. Unauthorized materials will be confiscated and given to your instructor.
  • Students must adhere to the length of their test as outlined by the faculty member on the Test Referral Form. 
    A notice will be given when your test time has concluded.  Students must hand in all test/exam materials to the invigilator at that time, and not make any last minute changes or alterations to the test/exam.  Students may not leave the Test Area with any test material unless authorized by the instructor.
  • Unauthorized behaviour will be reported to your instructor who will determine the consequences.
    Unauthorized behaviour or conduct includes: talking to others while in the testing room; accessing the internet or email; being disruptive, disrespectful or threatening to staff or other users of the Centre.  Students are not permitted to communicate with anyone except the Test Centre staff while completing a test/exam.  Test Centre staff cannot answer any content related questions for students.  Should unauthorized behaviour be witnessed by Test Centre staff, an incident report will be completed and attached to the student’s test/exam for faculty/departmental review and possible sanctions.
  • Electronic devices of any kind including cell phones, watches and iPods are not permitted at the student's exam workstation.
    Cubbies are provided for coats and bags, and plastic zip bags are provided for valuables to be stored in and placed under your desk while testing. Students are discouraged from bringing personal items of value with them to the Test Centre, as we are not responsible for lost or stolen items. 
  • All lengths of absence during the test is recorded.
    Students acknowledge that unscheduled breaks are permitted only for restroom use. Students must inform a Testing Services staff member to gain permission to leave the exam room for a restroom break.  If students take an unscheduled break during their test/exam, they will not have access to their personal belongings or be permitted to leave the building.  Students who use a break will not receive additional time to complete the test/exam. Repeated or lengthy departures from the test room for unscheduled breaks will be reported to faculty members for their review. Please note: only one student will be permitted to use the restroom at a time.
  • Tests must be written by the deadline outlined on the Instructors test referral form.
    Any expired test/exam will not be released for the student to write unless they have explicit written permission from the instructor and bring a copy of this note to the Test Centre.
  • Missed tests are returned to your instructor.
  • Please refrain from wearing scented products as it can be a serious irritant or allergy source.
  • Children are not allowed in the Test Centre.
    Children cannot be left unattended in the waiting area. (Testing Services staff members are required to call campus security if children are left unattended.)
  • Only clear water in a transparent bottle (label removed) is permitted in the testing room.
  • Ear plugs are available to help reduce noise.
  • Testing Services is not responsible for any lost or stolen property.  
    Please leave all valuables in your locker, as we do not have locked storage spaces available to students.

Prohibited Materials in the Testing Area

  • Cell phones - please turn off and place in plastic zip bags provided to you by our staff, these are to be placed under your chair until you have completed your test.
  • Bags, coats, personal electronics must remain outside of the Testing Area
  • Live Scribe Pens
  • Food and/or beverage - only clear water in a clear bottle (label removed) is permitted in the Testing Room.
  • Electronic Devices - Personal laptops, watches, USBs, etc.
