Toronto, Ontario – March 23, 2017 - Humber College and the Tzu Chi Foundation Canada are partnering to open Canada’s first postsecondary, on-campus Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) clinic in 2017. Humber is the only publicly funded college in Ontario to offer a comprehensive TCM program, which launched in 2016.

“Together, Humber and Tzu Chi will implement a comprehensive Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic at our North Campus, which will serve both the college and local communities, providing access to alternative care for Ontarians who wish to add TCM to their healthcare plan,” said Jason Powell, dean of Humber’s School of Health Sciences. “Every day our TCM learners will have access to a high quality training facility and living laboratory in which to develop their skills while working with actual patients, giving them valuable real-life experience, while providing healthcare access to the local community.”

Set to open in 2017, the clinic will provide services such as acupuncture and herbal medicine. Tzu Chi will fund the clinic’s construction and operations in Humber-provided space.  The clinic will also support research into TCM efficacy. Tzu Chi will be providing entrance and ongoing scholarships for TCM students at Humber.
