Focus on Wellness

Wellness is the theme for the inaugural year.

  • What do we mean by “wellness”? For the purposes of the national hackathon, we are using the definition of wellness from the World Health Organization (WHO): “A state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
  • The concept of wellness is complex, multifaceted, and nuanced. However, to account for the limits of time and resources presented by the structure of this hackathon, the definition and aspects of wellness will guide students as they explore this theme.
  • In the hackathon, students will be asked to consider all the individual dimensions of wellness, including mental health, physical health, and nutrition, but teams can choose to tackle either one dimension of wellness or multiple dimensions.
