3D Lighting and Rendering

Course Code: 3DFX 002

Academic Year: 2024-2025

This course will explore how light behaves and how to recreate it in a 3D environment. Students will learn how to output images that look realistic within industry standard rendering software such as Houdini and Maya. To accurately portray a realistic scene, three main themes are required: lighting, rendering and materials. These three topics are integral to each other and will be explored together to fully realize a realistic render. The projects in this course are driven by this concept and are meant to show how each play off the other, combining to give a realistic portrayal of mood, atmosphere, and time of day.
