In this course students are introduced to the complex legal system in which businesses and consumers operate. The Canadian Constitution, as well as statutory and common law relevant to business and consumer transactions are covered. Students receive an introduction to the laws of contracts and torts that form the basis of business relationships. Topics include sale of goods and consumer protection legislation, debtor-creditor relations, competition law, employment law, manufacturer's product liability and intellectual property rights.
