In this course students are introduced to the complex legal system in which businesses and consumers operate. The Canadian Constitution, as well as statutory and common law relevant to business and consumer transactions are covered. Students receive an introduction to the laws of contracts and torts that form the basis of business relationships. Other topics include professional and product liability, sale of goods and consumer protection legislation, forms of business organization, employment law, intellectual property law and real property law.
