This course provides a theoretical and practical evaluation of the objectives and standards of financial reporting as applied in the contemporary income determination, asset and equity valuations. The course includes in-depth treatment of current issues and problems in accounting, covering topics such as the contributions of economics, finance, technologies and other disciplines to accounting; the practical and theoretical problems of the current and developing issues in accounting; the process and issues of regulation and standard setting; and other areas of the evolving accounting environment, paying particular attention to areas of theoretical controversy. This course involves research, analysis, writing, presentation, interpersonal and group skills demonstrated through preparation of research papers, group discussions and presentations.
