This course provides an introduction to colour theory and the practice of representational painting. Students will examine the nature of our sight, the use of light logic, and established colour relationships through in-studio demonstrations and exposure to historical and contemporary examples of painting. Theoretical knowledge will be solidified through a variety of applied exercises that emphasize consistency, safety, and professionalism in the studio. Through a demonstration of painting applications and techniques, as well as employing methodologies for designing original artworks, students will generate important content for their creative portfolios.
