This course provides students with the skills required to improve the lives of individuals struggling with addiction and/or mental health issues. From empowerment, strengths-based and recovery-oriented perspectives, students explore the complexity of integrated case management practice to increase their knowledge and ability to address the systemic issues that impact individuals with addiction & mental health concerns. Students practice and hone their skills: engaging with clients, understanding stories, creating hypotheses, identifying and addressing barriers, developing and connecting to support systems, making community connections through advocacy and working on inter-professional teams.
