In this course students gain an understanding of trauma, and how experiences of trauma impact individuals, families, communities, organizations, and society as a whole. The impacts of trauma on the brain and body are explored, and students develop an understanding of the complex relationship between trauma, mental health, and substance use. The course builds on existing knowledge of bio-pscyho-social models and attachment theories, and how these inform service delivery for persons who experience trauma, mental health, and substance use concerns.
