Course Code: ADMH 4500

Academic Year: 2024-2025

Students in this course use authentic team-based cases to engage in shared decision making when working with multiple health and social service providers. Students explore barriers to effective collaboration, such as power, hierarchy, poor communication and role confusion. Strategies for building strong inter-professional teams focus on understanding one's own scope of practice and being aware and respectful of the roles of other providers. Students confront stereotypes and develop positive attitudes towards teamwork through the examination of evidence-based benefits that identify how collaborative mental health care improves outcomes for persons with mental health issues and their families.
