Therapeutic interventions can take several forms and be applied in a variety of settings. This course introduces students to a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities and interventions used in mental health and addictions. Students explore the key principles and theories of each model, while deepening their understanding of the role of a professional counsellor. Practical skills, concepts and essential strategies of each modality is integrated into clinical practice in order promote the psychological, social and emotional wellbeing of clients. Case studies, demonstrations and experiential learning are used in the development of therapeutic skills.
