In this course, students will be introduced to the French clown masters Philippe Gauliers and Jacques Lecoqs clown techniques. They will learn how to be present, engaging, and open in front of the audience. Through exercises, observation, reflections, and presentations, students will free their creative impulse and develop a facility with playfulness and failure, and explore their own ridiculous quality and facility for comedy. The focus is on lightness, freedom, sensitivity, openness, vulnerability, and comedic timing.
