Human Resources Management Leadership for Senior Living Homes

Course Code: AHSL 021

Academic Year: 2024-2025

Human Resource Management (HRM) and Leadership Skills are best learned through a hands on approach. This course, delivered online, will explore the key areas of Human Resource Management, Leadership and the components of a Career Search. This course has four distinct components: pre-reading prior to arrival on campus, an on campus personal learning journey followed by a group case project, and finally completion of the steps for a personal career search in Senior Home Living. Understanding the differences between management and leadership, legal aspects of the Canadian workplace, unionized environment perspectives, and performance management processes will be layered onto a deep understanding of personal leadership strengths and improvement areas against leadership traits, how to create effective teams, and motivational theories for team success, through a case. The course will conclude with the creation of a personal resume and related documents/plan for a successful job search.
