Through this course students acquire the skills needed for effective planning and control of resources in the production process. Students create a variable production plan based on a sales forecast. To ensure that the organizational goals are met in a cost-effective manner, students coordinate, execute and control the activities of an operation. Building on foundational concepts related to production and manufacturing processes, students select suitable systems for optimizing inventory and product management, while incorporating advanced planning and control techniques (such as lot sizing, EOQ method, order size calculation, break-even analysis and assembly line balancing).
